Activism Part 1
Activism on campus started well before the 1960s. The famous 1960s protests consisted of multiple overlapping movements, including the Free Speech Movement, the Civil Rights Movement, protests against the Vietnam War, the Third World Liberation Front movement, and second-wave feminism, among others.
The Burke-Wadsworth Act was the first peacetime conscription in US history, requiring all men between the ages of 21 and 35 to register for the draft.
