Tom Davenport Photo Collection on Taiwan
Tom Davenport is an American photographer, filmmaker, and archivist renowned for his documentaries on American folklife and folk music. He taught English and studied Chinese at the New Asia College in Hong Kong, and spent much of 1967 in Taiwan on assignment for National Geographic. He took thousands of photos of all aspects of life in Taiwan during the period of 1964-1967. This collection is of high artistic, historical, and documentary quality. In May 2017, Tom Davenport donated the entire collection of over 7000 images that he took on Taiwan to the University of California, Berkeley Library. All over 7000 images have been digitized and will be available online in the near future.
