Edo Printed Books Collection
The East Asian Library holds over 5,000 Japanese printed books in some 16,000 volumes, covering a wide range of subjects. A bulk of these materials, mostly from the Mitsui acquisition in 1950, was printed in the Edo period (1600-1868). Researchers wanting an overview of the collection are referred to Mitsui bunko kyūzō Edo hanpon shomoku: Kariforunia Daigaku Bakurē-kō shozō in the East Asian Library. Individual items in the collection can also be located though OskiCat. A small portion of the collection has been digitized and made available online by Ritsumeikan University (including the links to digital images of 658 titles in the Database of Pre-Modern Japanese Works provided by National Institute of Japanese Literature).
